Canon is one of the most famous companies for printers as this company offers a wide range of printers to the users. From small and compact size printers to big and heavy scale printers; Canon manufactures all. Due to its wide range of printers; Canon is always the best choice. The printing speed and services of Canon printers is also good. But like other hardware devices, the Canon printer starts showing some errors after completing the smooth working phase. Canon error 5012 is a common error faced by many users. This Canon error can appear at any time and does not have a fixed reason which means you can get this error due to any reason.
Reset your Canon Printer
If the Canon error 5012 is showing the printer is in error state due to any runtime issue then try resetting the printer. Resetting will help to fix simple issues. Follow the given steps for resetting your Canon printer:
Turn off your Canon Printer
Press the Power and Stop button simultaneously
Now release the Stop button
Again press the hold the power button and press the Stop button twice
Wait for about 30 seconds
“O” sign will appear on the screen
Press the Stop button for four-time
Now press the Power button twice
Again press the Power button for turning off your printer
Now open your Canon printer and eject the USB cable and pull out the power cord
Wait for about a minute
Connect the power cord and your Canon printer will start automatically. Now connect the USB cable on your printer to connect it with your PC. Go to your PC and try to give print command. If your printer is still dealing with the same printer error then try a factory reset. But once you do factory reset; you have to do all the settings again on your printer. Here are the steps for Canon Factory reset:
Go to the Canon printer and press the Setup button
Press the arrow button and navigate to Device settings
Press the OK button
Again press the Arrow button and navigate to the Reset option
Hit the OK button
Now go to Reset all button by using the arrow button and then hit the OK button. Choose the Yes option and then click on OK. Now your printer will get factory reset. Perform all the settings on your Canon printer as you have done while installing the printer for the first time. After completing the settings, give a print command from your computer and check whether your error gets fixed or not. If not, then seek other solutions.
Check for the paper jam
Some people also get into the Canon error 5012 due to simple paper jamming. When a piece of paper gets stuck into the rollers; your printer stops working. You have to take out the paper for fixing the error. Open your Canon printer and remove the cartridge. Now check the rollers and other parts of the printer for paper chunks or other junk. Use a clean and dry cloth for cleaning your printer. Now reinstall the cartridge on your Canon printer and try to take a printout. If your printer is still showing the same error then ask for technical help.
Delete all the pending print jobs
Canon 5B00 Error can appear when you have numerous pending print jobs. You can’t resolve the issue until the pending print jobs get removed. Here are the steps for removing the pending print job:
Close the error wizard and click on the Start button
Now go to the Run button
Type control panel and hit the OK button
Right-click on the icon
Choose the Open button
If you want to cancel one print job then hit the Cancel button
If you want to cancel all the print jobs from the PC then click on Cancel All Documents button. Now restart your computer and open a document. Press Ctrl and P keys from the keyboard. The print wizard will appear on the screen. Make the appropriate changes like the number of printouts, layouts etc and then click on the Print option. Your Canon printer will start taking printouts.
